Kukicha, also known as twig tea or bōcha, is a unique Japanese tea blend made from stems, stalks, and twigs of the tea plant. Its history is rooted in resourcefulness: originally, workers saved these discarded parts during the production of other teas, creating a more affordable alternative. Over time, Kukicha’s delicious flavor and distinctive aroma gained popularity, making it a cherished tea enjoyed worldwide.

Kukicha has a mildly nutty and slightly creamy sweet flavor. Its taste falls somewhere between that of Gyokuro and Sencha, offering a delightful balance.

Made from four types of stems, stalks, and twigs of the tea plant, Kukicha is one of the preferred teas in the macrobiotic diet.
