Chinese white tea has a rich heritage dating back centuries. It is believed to have originated in the Fujian province of China. The delicate leaves are meticulously plucked from the tea plant, often during the early spring when the buds are covered in fine silvery hairs.
The hallmark of Chinese white tea lies in its minimal processing. After plucking, the leaves are gently withered and allowed to naturally oxidize. Unlike other teas, there is no rolling or shaping involved. The result is a tea that retains its natural appearance, resembling fresh leaves.
